Chairperson Johnson opened the hearing on SB336.
Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment1) Ms. Ma stood for questions.
Proponent Testimony:
Chris Swickard, Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Security Benefit Life Insurance Company, provided testimony via Webex, in favor of SB336 stating if approved, the bill will modernize the Kansas statutes that govern the investment by Kansas life insurance companies in preferred stock and other equity interests, and in doing so, will help Kansas insurers grow their businesses, serve their customers and compete more effectively with insurers from other states. (Attachment2) Mr. Swickard stood for questions.
