The Chairman opened the hearing and called upon Jason Long for a revisor overview of the bill.

The Chairman called for testimony on the bill.

Proponent Ponka-We Victors explained that this bill represented the conveyance of a sacred burial ground back to the Shawnee Tribe.

Proponent Representative Cindy Neighbors shared fond family memories of interactions with the tribal leadership of the Shawnee Tribe.

Proponent Chief Ben Barnes expressed the historical significance of the proposed actions of this bill to the Shawnee Tribe.

Proponent Vice-Chairman Hilderbrand recognized this as the return of the final resting place of some very highly respected tribal members and also wanted to make sure that this conveyance of tribal property was done in the same manner as other similar transactions. (there was no written testimony).
