Chairperson Williams opened the hearing on HB 2512

Nick Myers, Revisor from the Kansas Office of Revisor of Statues, reviewed HB 2512 bill brief with the Committee. (Attachment 2)

Mr. Myers took questions from the Committee.

Chairperson Williams noted to the Committee that the Fiscal Note has been received for HB 2512.

Kristian Starner, Vice-President of Graduation Alliance, spoke in support of HB 2512.  Ms. Starner spoke about the mission of Graduation Alliance, an organization that works to reconnect with students and adults that have either dropped out or are on the brink of dropping out of high school.  She noted that the bill would allow the school districts to re-engage with students 19 years and under while increasing graduation rates and academic achievement.  (Attachment 3)

Ms. Starner and Mr. Myers took questions from the Committee.

Chairperson Williams noted there were still outstanding questions regarding the bill and clarification was needed on how the bill will work for a variety of situations. 

There being no further conferees, Chairperson Williams closed the hearing on HB 2512.
