Minutes Content for Tue, Jan 18, 2022

Chairperson Patton opened the hearing on HB2473. Natalie Scott provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)  There were no questions from the membership.

As a result of audio issues that were occurring for those appearing via WebEx, the Chairperson Patton listed the bills that were introduced and Ms. Scott's bill overview was repeated.

Proponent

Mark Simpson stated the purpose of this legislative change is to remove the requirement that all district court judges in Douglas County serve on the Law Library Board. This amendment would allow two district court judges to serve on the Law Library Board instead of all six. It would also remove the requirement that attorney members of the Law Library Board be selected in an election every two years by most of the attorneys in the county. The suggested change is consistent with the rules that currently only apply to the Johnson and Sedgwick County Law Libraries. Mr. Simpson stood for questions. (Attachment 2)

Chairperson Patton closed the hearing on HB2473.
