Chairperson Billinger opened the hearing on HB 2218. David Wiese, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 12)
Natalie Yoza, State Health Plan's Employee Advisory Committee, spoke as a proponent of the bill, which would change the qualifications for who is eligible to serve on the Health Care Commission. The character of the workforce has changed dramatically since this statute was last amended in 1992. This bill would bring the membership criteria in line with the current workforce by removing the requirement that the current state employee and retired employee be in or from the classified service. (Attachment 13)
Written only testimony in support of the bill was submitted by Sarah LaFrenz, Kansas Organization of State Employees. (Attachment 14)
There being no further conferees, Chairperson Billinger closed the hearing on HB 2218.
Chairperson Billinger adjourned the meeting at 11:50 am. The next meeting will be March 23, 2021.
