Short Title
Exempting the caregiver of a child in state out-of-home placement from the child care assistance 20-hour-per-week work requirement.
Minutes Content for Thu, Mar 25, 2021
Chairperson Hilderbrand opened the hearing on HB2116.
Jenna Moyer, Staff Revisor gave an overview of the bill.
Sandra Kimmons testified as a proponent saying that if HB2116 is adopted it will allow DCF to use the Childcare Assistance program and federal Childcare and Development Funds (CCDF) to continue to provide childcare assistance to foster caregivers working 1 to 19 hours a week. It will save $160,000 annually in State General Funds while allowing the state to continue to provide a much-needed service to foster caregivers, a population of individuals that themselves make sacrifices to provide the state a vital service.
