Short Title

Establishing certification and funding for certified community behavioral health clinics, authorizing telemedicine waivers for out-of-state healthcare providers, reducing certain requirements for licensure by the behavioral sciences regulatory board and expanding out-of-state temporary permits to practice behavioral sciences professions.

Scott Abbott provided an overview of SB238 to the committee.

Mr. Abbott responded to questions from the committee.

Chairman Landwehr asked Scott Abbott to present the amendment that has been placed before the committee. The amendment would strike lines 32-36 on page 1 and lines 1-2 on page 2. On page 2, the effective date would be changed to May1, 2022. Additionally, a directive to KDADS was added regarding the certification of additional community behavioral health centers over the next 3 years (Attachment 5).

Chairman Landwehr motioned and  Representative Kelly seconded that the amendment be added. Motion carried.

Representative Eplee motioned and Representative Parker seconded to advance SB238 as amended favorably. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:19 PM.
