Chairperson Bowers opened the hearing on HB2297. Jason Long, staff revisor, presented a briefing on the bill.
Katie Koupal testified in support of HB2297. Ms. Koupal's testimony stated the bill allows the Secretary of State to move forward on modernizing the publication responsibilities of the office and to provide additional publication offerings. Ms. Koupal indicated the bill has four key provisions and provided a description of each provision. Ms. Koupal addressed questions from Committee members. (Attachment 1)
Mark Eaton testified in support of HB2297. Mr. Eaton's testimony stated Envision is a not-for-profit that provides employment, workforce development and rehabilitation services for people who are blind or visually impaired. Mr. Eaton indicated they would like to continue to be able to bid on the Secretary of State's printing projects with the opportunity to be one of the commercial bidders on printing going forward.
