Chairperson Hilderbrand opened the hearing on HB2158.
Jenna Moyer, Staff Revisor gave an overview of the bill.
Joseph House testified as a proponent. He said the Emergency Medical Services Board supports the peer review process within the trauma system, the opportunity it provides for system development, and the removal of the sunset for provisions that would be considered absolutely necessary for the process to continue to be effective beyond July 1, 2021. The favorable passage of HB2158 would allow for trauma peer review and trauma process improvement to continue on and after July 1, 2021. (Attachment 1)
Kendra Baldridge gave proponent testimony in support of HB2158. She stated that its passage would have a positive impact in the continued protection of healthcare providers from disclosure during peer review for performance improvement. Peer review is import to the continued improvement of trauma care for all injured patients in Kansas. (Attachment 2)
