Chairperson Hilderbrand opened the hearing on HB2062.
Jenna Moyer, Staff Revisor gave an overview of the bill.
Ed Klumpp presented his proponent testimony by stating that the associations he represents supports the provisions in HB2026 that allow the State Child Death Review Board to disclose information to law enforcement officers and prosecutors in certain situations. His testimony included a suggested amendment that would allow the sharing of the information not previously available to the investigators if the Board were aware an investigation was being conducted related to the child's death. (Attachment 1)
Melissa Johnson testified as a proponent of HB2062 by stating that as written, HB2062 is an important step in honoring the lives lost by ensuring that decision and policymakers in Kansas have access to the necessary information to attempt to prevent future child deaths. She asked that the Committee report HB2062 favorable and that it be passed by the Senate unamended. (Attachment 2)
