Jason Thompson gave a bill brief on HB2001 stating creates the crime of sexual extortion and requires certain offenders to register under the Kansas offender registration act. It is a new crime defined as communicating a threat to injure the property or reputation of another person, a threat to commit violence against a person or a threat to distribute an image, video, or other recording of a person of a sexual nature. (Attachment 8)

Adam Proffitt submitted the fiscal note for HB2001. (Attachment 9)

Kathleen Owen spoke in support of HB2001 stating that the conduct described in the bill is considered a form of sexual extortion and it is increasing through the use of technology and the internet. (Attachment 11)
