Revisor Jason Long provided a brief overview of HB 2175 and answered questions from the committee.
Senator Marci Francisco testified as a proponent of the bill. Senator Francisco expressed her appreciation in hearing the bill and stressed the bill's potential impact on the surrounding communities. Senator Francisco answered questions from the committee. (Attachment 3)
Kevin Kelley, Chief Executive Officer of Peaslee Tech, testified as a proponent to the bill. Mr. Kelley discussed the necessity, creation of, and the sustainability of future trade jobs and technical education programs in Kansas. Mr. Kelley suggested HB 2175 would allow the community within Lawrence to choose if they would want to support these technical programs though a mill levy tax. Mr. Kelley answered questions from the committee. (Attachment 4)
