Chair Seiwert asked the committee to review the minutes of February 11, 2021 meeting. Representative Delperdang moved that the minutes from the February 11, 2021 minutes be approved as written. Representative Gartner seconded the motion. The minutes were approved without objection.
Chair Seiwert continued the hearing on HB2180. Nick Myers gave the Revisors overview. There were no questions for the Revisor.
This officially opens the opponent portion on HB2180.
OPPONENTS
Darrin Ives, Evergy, appeared before the committee in opposition of HB2180. Transmission is really about reliability. Reliability is critical for manufacturers, we need to keep an emphasis on transmission in order to help bring manufacturers to Kansas who want both reliability and access to renewable energy.(Attachment 1)
Mr Ives stood for questions. Questions from the committee were addressed.
Whitney Damron, Liberty Utilities Empire District, appeared before the committee in opposition of HB2180 provided his testimony to the committee. HB2180 is an unneeded costly proposal which would also create an unnecessary administrative burden without any proven benefits to customers. (Attachment 2)
Mr Damron stood for questions. Questions from the committee were addressed.
Chair Seiwert drew the committees attention to the written opponent testimony.
