Jason Long, Senior Assistant, Revisor of Statutes, opened the committee with a brief summary of the previously accepted amendments of SB 52 and answered questions from the committee. Committee members brought up numerous questions and concerns regarding the definition of "nuisance," whether the proposed law targeted inhabited or abandoned homes and their respective quantities, and debated whether a state statute was even necessary. Chris Lambrum, Justin Waggoner, Jason Long, and other committee members responded to several of these questions. Further discussion ensued.
Senator Francisco proposed an amendment to SB 52 at 10:15AM. The proposed amendment granted a clearer definition of the exempted agricultural areas. Senator Francisco responded to questions from committee members. (Attachment 2)
Chairperson McGinn adjourned the meeting at 10:28AM. The next meeting is scheduled for February 4, 2021 at 9:30AM.
