Chairperson Smith opened the hearing on HB2105.
Mr. Siebers provided an overview on HB2105 stating the bill establishes withholding requirements for certain employees who work in multiple states. (Attachment 11)
The Department of Revenue indicates HB2105 would required $600 from the State General Fund in FY2022 to update forms and instructions.
Kent Eckles, Kansas Chamber testified as a proponent for HB2105 that increases the one-day safe harbor from personal income tax and withholding for employees traveling outside of their home state for temporary periods to a 30-day safe harbor. HB2105 reduces withholding and reporting burdens on employers whose employees work for less than 30 days in Kansas. (Attachment 12)
Mr. Eckles stood for questions from Committee members.
