Commissioner Jim Howell started to speak at 10:13AM. Commissioner Howell clarified that SB 52 would not target damaged homes or isolated farmhouses, but rather only homes that pose an extreme health and safety hazard of other homes or people in close proximity within a residential neighborhood. Furthermore, Commissioner Howell states SB 52 would only apply to the unincorporated areas of Sedgwick County. Commissioner Howell also brings up that a lengthy due process procedure would still ensue, and guaranteed protections to agricultural operations.
Commissioner Howell responded to questions from the committee. (Attachment 2)
