Chairperson Barker opened the hearing on HB2427. Jason Long, Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill (Attachment 1). There were no questions from the Committee.
Chairperson Barker recognized Brenda Dreher, KDADS, as a proponent of HB2427 (Attachment 2). Questions were asked by Representatives Wolfe Moore, Weber, and Houser.
Chairperson Barker recognized Barbara Hickert, Long Term Care Ombudsman, who provided proponent testimony (Attachment 3).
Chairperson Barker noted that there was written proponent testimony from Ernie Kutzley, AARP (Attachment 4).
Chairperson Barker recognized Rachel Monger, Leading Age Kansas, as an opponent to HB2427 (Attachment 5). Representative Whitmer had questions for Ms. Monger.
Chairperson Barker noted that there was written opponent testimony from Steve Karrer, Deputy Attorney General (Attachment 6).
Cindy Luxem, KHCA, was recognized by Chairperson Barker. She provided testimony as a neutral on HB2427 (Attachment 7). Questions were asked by Representatives Rooker, Houser, and Miller.
Chairperson Barker asked if there were any further conferees. Seeing none, he closed the hearing on HB2427.
