Chairperson McGinn opened the hearing on SB 173. Jill Wolters provided an overview of the bill. This is a mirror bill to HB 2158, which was amended into HB 2168 by the House Appropriations Committee. (Attachment 6)
Jim Modig, University Architect, University of Kansas, testified in support of the bill. The building they would like to sell is away from campus and in poor condition. The floor slabs have settled and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are beyond their useful life, creating a financial liability to the University. Mr. Modig responded to questions from Committee members. (Attachment 7)
There being no further conferees, Chairperson McGinn closed the hearing on SB 173.
Chairperson McGinn adjourned the meeting at 11:23. The next meeting will be February 22, 2019.
