Chairperson Aurand asked for final action on HB2483.
Representative Sutton moved to pass out HB2483 favorably. Representative Vickery seconded.
Chairperson Aurand opened the discussion by going over the history of the past two years work on due process.
Chairperson Aurand moved to amend HB2483. Representative Dierks seconded.
Revisor Jason Long explained the balloon amendment. (Attachment 1)
Jason Long, requested two small technical amendments to the balloon amendment: Section 6, (a) should be (b), and Section 6. A. should include "And any teacher as defined by KSA 2017 Supp."
There is a discussion about whether to compromise or not on this issue.
Back on the bill, Chairperson Aurand moved to adopt the proposed balloon amendment. Voice vote taken, division called for, six in favor, ten against. Motion to amend fails.
Representatives Powell, Dove, Sutton, and Arnberger request to be recorded as voting in favor of the amendment.
There is further discussion about HB2483 and due process in general.
Back on the bill. Representative Sutton moved to pass out HB2483 favorably. Representative Vickery seconded. Motion to approve fails.
