Steve Shute announced "Wired City" his city's innovative plan to bring fiber infrastructure to every home and facilitate healthy competition on the infrastructure between internet service providers (ISPs). He expressed his concern that "top-down, heavy handed planning at the state level has never increased the amount of consumer choice at the local level.". He urged the committee to reject the idea of a task force, and instead look in other directions to bring more varied and innovative solutions to the table.(Attachment 1)
