Chairperson Lynn requested the Committee to turn its attention to discussion and action on Substitute for SB 432.
Senator Suellentrop stated continued dialogue had occurred with parties involved with the bills and suggested the discussion continue to assure Committee members have an opportunity to express their opinions. He said in light of budget concerns, in particular the education funding requirements, it is important to look at programs like this, to make modifications and to develop effective programs throughout the state.
Chairperson Lynn requested Revisor Chuck Reimer to distribute copies of Substitute for SB 432 which now contained SB 432 and SB 434. Mr. Reimer said the copy included the two bills and did not include any of the suggested changes which had been included in the copy distributed at the March 20, 2018 Committee meeting. He said the only other substantive change was on page 15, item (w), which involved a reference to a tourist attraction. (Attachment 4)
Senator Holland said he would be bringing several amendments to the bill.
Senator Olson moved, seconded by Senator Givens, to table the bill. The motion failed.
Chairperson Lynn asked if there were any amendments. There were none at this time. Chairperson Lynn stated the Committee would continue to work the bill at the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:27 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 22, 2018.
