Chairperson McGinn opened the hearing on HB 2556. Jill Wolters provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Written testimony in support of the bill was submitted by Ed Klumpp, Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Kansas Sheriffs Association and Kansas Peace Officers Association. (Attachment 2)
Senator Schmidt moved, Senator Skubal seconded, to recommend the bill favorably for passage. Discussion ensued after which Senator Skubal withdrew his second and Senator Schmidt withdrew her motion.
Senator Schmidt moved, Senator Skubal seconded, to amend the bill by, on page four line 16, striking "statute book" and inserting "register" and to recommend HB 2556, as amended, favorably for passage. Motion carried.
There being no further conferees, Chairperson McGinn closed the hearing on HB 2556.
