Chairperson Bowers opened the hearing on HB2642. Mike Heim, staff revisor, presented a briefing on the bill.
Representative Keith Esau testified in support of HB2642. Representative Esau indicated he sponsored this bill at the beginning of the year due to Twitter increasing their character limit to 280. (Attachment 3)
Questions by the Committee were addressed by Representative Esau and staff.
Mark Skoglund testified as a neutral conferee on HB2642. Mr. Skoglund provided some background on the "paid for" attribution. Mr. Skoglund indicated increasing the Twitter character limit was included in their 2017 Annual Report as a legislative recommendation to consider. Mr. Skoglund addressed the social media conspicuous attribution and the chairperson/treasurer attribution. (Attachment 4)
