Chairperson Bowers opened the hearing on HB2505. Mike Heim, staff revisor, provided a briefing on the bill.
Amanda Stanley testified in support of HB2505. Ms. Stanley stated this bill arose out of a series of questions they have been getting over the last several years about what is an executive function under the statute. Ms. Stanley explained why the current definition of mayor leads to some confusion. Ms. Stanley indicated rather than continue to try to make a 100-year-old statute work, they should try to come up with some language that would actually work for the cities in 2018. (Attachment 1)
After questions from the Committee were addressed, Chairperson Bowers closed the hearing on HB2505.
