Representative Ponka-We Victors presented testimony to the Committee in support of H Sub HB2147 by detailing how "Native American service members who were domiciled on Indian land experienced state income tax being illegally withheld from their paychecks". (Attachment 1) She stood for questions.
Representative Dennis Highberger presented testimony to the Committee in support of H Sub HB2147 by describing why "the Kansas Department of Revenue [should] refund state income tax payments that were improperly withheld from the military pay of Native American service members between 1977 and 2001". (Attachment 2) He stood for questions.
Vivien Olsen presented testimony to the Committee in support of H Sub HB2147 by saying "Kansas would be the third state in the Nation following Arizona and New Mexico, to enact legislation that refunds withheld state income tax earned by tribal member veterans domiciled on their reservation during their active military service". (Attachment 3) She stood for questions.
Thomas Wabnum presented testimony to the Committee in support of H Sub HB2147 by requesting legislators "begin the work to assist Native American veterans in Kansas to regain what is rightfully theirs". (Attachment 4) He stood for questions.
