Mr. Wells provided an overview on HB2615 which concerns the child and dependent care credit in Kansas. The credit was reinstated in last year's tax bill and the credit amount is calculated based on amount taken for a federal credit. Currently in tax year 2018 the Kansas credit is 12.5 percent of the federal credit that raises to 18.75 percent in 2019 then 25 percent in 2020 and thereafter. Mr. Wells stood for questions from the Committee.
Ms. Smith provided an overview on the fiscal note for HB2615 which would decrease the State General Fund revenues by $9.2 Million in 2019. The fiscal effect to state revenue for FY2020 would be $13.4 Million; FY2021, $16.4 Million; FY2022, $16.7 Million and FY2023, $17 Million. Ms. Smith stood for questions from the Committee.
Representative Tim Hodge testified as a proponent for HB2615 stating it is a pro-family policy to help out families in Kansas (Attachment 3). Representative Hodge stood for questions from the Committee.
