Scott Wells, Senior Assistant Revisor provided an overview on HB2593 noting it would provide a sales tax exemption for all sales of tangible personal property or services purchased by a contractor for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, repairing, enlarging, furnishing or remodeling facilities for the operation of services for Friends of JCDS, Inc. Mr. Wells stood for questions from the Committee.
Senator Dinah Sykes, 21st District testified as a proponent to HB2593 stating Friends of Johnson County Developmental Supports is an independent, 501c3 non-profit organization that provides additional supports to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who receive services (Attachment 1). Senator Sykes stood for questions from the Committee
Janel Bowers, Director of Development and Friends Board Director, testified as a proponent for HB2593 noting the sales tax exemption will provide additional saving to the agency that will be utilized to complete additional renovations (Attachment 2). Ms. Bowers stood for questions from the Committee.
