Staff briefed the Committee on the contents of the bill and answered questions.
The Chairman recognized Don McNeeley as the proponent for this bill. (Attachment 1) According to Mr. McNeeley this bill proposes amendments to the Kansas Dealers and Manufacturers Licensing Act. He said the Kansas Dealers and Manufacturers Licensing Act serves to balance the relationship between new motor vehicle dealers against overreaching by the manufacturers. He noted that these provisions are similar to amendments incorporated into motor vehicle franchise acts in a large number of states over the last couple years. Mr. McNeeley stood for questions.
