Natalie Scott gave an overview of HB2648. The Committee had questions and comments.
Ed Klumpp testified on behalf of Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Kansas Sheriffs Association, and Kansas Peace Officers Association in support of HB2648 stating the bill fixes an inconsistency in sentencing when an offender is convicted of assaulting or battering a federal law enforcement officer. (Attachment 1)

Chris Conn testified on behalf Dominick Stokes, Vice President of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association in support of HB2648 stating the bill will help ensure all law enforcement including federal law enforcement officers are provided the same amount of protection against assaults while performing their official duties. (Attachment 2)
Zac Howard testified on behalf of the Kansas City chapter of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association in support of HB2648 insuring that justice will be served on those wishing to do harm on all enforcement officers in Kansas. (Attachment 3)
