Staff explained the bill and answered questions. Chairman Proehl recognized Representative Ken Rahjes as the proponent on this bill. (Attachment 7) According to Representative Rahjes HB2632 would require any operator of an escort vehicle in the state to annually register each vehicle that escorts any for-hire motor carrier that is transporting an oversize or overweight load in Kansas. Registrations would be administered by the Department of Revenue and a fee of $100 per vehicle, per year, would be assessed.
There were no other proponents, opponents or neutral testimonies so the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2632 and opened the hearing on HB2722. Staff explained the bill.
