Chairperson Kelly called for final action on HB2448.
Representative Jennings moved, Representative Hawkins seconded, to recommend HB2448 favorably for passage.
Discussion was called for by the Chairperson.
A proposed balloon amendment to HB2448 was distributed and reviewed by David Wiese. (Attachment 1) The amendment would change the affiliation date to January 1, 2019.
Representative Jennings moved, Representative Eplee seconded, to adopt the proposed balloon amendment to HB2448. Motion carried.
A second proposed balloon amendment to HB2448 was distributed and reviewed by David Wiese. (Attachment 2) The amendment would further define those who are eligible to participate in KP&F. Representative Jennings responded to questions from Committee members. Keith Bradshaw, Contract Programs and Finance Executive Director, Kansas Department of Corrections, who was in the gallery, also responded to questions from Committee members.
Representative Jennings moved, Representative Eplee seconded, to adopt the proposed balloon amendment to HB2448. Motion carried.
A third proposed balloon amendment to HB2448 was distributed and reviewed by David Wiese. (Attachment 3) The amendment would clarify retirement dates. Representative Trimmer responded to questions from Committee members.
Representative Trimmer moved, Representative Hodge seconded, to adopt the proposed balloon amendment to HB2448. Motion carried.
Representative Jennings moved, Representative Powell seconded to recommend HB2448, as amended, favorably for passage. Motion carried.
