Chair Osterman opened the discussion on HB 2147 and recognized Jenna Moyer, Assistant Revisor of Statutes, who briefed the committee on the bill, providing an overview of HB 2147, detailing the bills progression through committee hearing, Sub Committee work during the 2017 Session, and additional work on the bill during the 2017 interim period. A question and answer period followed.
Chair Osterman announced that possible action on the bill would be on hold, allowing for additional discussion to take place at a future meeting, when the committee could discuss the bill with a representative from Kansas Department of Revenue-Tax division. Chair Osterman directed Jenna Moyer, Assistant Revisor of Statutes, to provide a proposed substitute bill to the committee for further information, review and preparation for final action. Chair Osterman recognized Thomas Wabnum, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, who addressed the committee with some remarks related to HB 2147. A question and answer period followed.
Chair Osterman closed today's discussion on HB 2147, pointing out that continued discussion would take place at a future meeting.
