The Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. to consider action on House Substitute for SB 126. Representative Gallagher moved to reopen discussion on the bill and offered an amendment. Representative Deere seconded the motion (Attachment 1). Staff Kyle Hamilton reviewed the content of the bill and answered members' questions for clarification. Following discussion, Representative Gallagher moved to adopt the amendment. The amendment was adopted.
Chairman Alford offered an amendment (Attachment 2). Staff Kyle Hamilton noted the added language in Section 1, (d), line 36; and Sections 3 and 4. Representative Gallagher requested two technical amendments be considered; first, the addition of "Kansas" be added before the CASA designation, Section 1, C, line 30 and second, Section 4, line 19, the voting member number be changed to 10 for a quorum. Chairman Alford agreed to include the technical amendments with his amendment. Chairman Alford closed and moved his amendment which included the technical amendments offered by Representative Gallagher. The amendment was adopted.
A motion to pass House Sub SB 126, as amended, was made by Representative Judd-Jenkins. Seconded by Representative Dietrich. The bill passed as amended.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m. No further meeting is planned for the 2017 Legislative Session.
