Scott Wells, Assistant Revisor provided an overview on HB2408 noting the bill would allow the Secretary of Revenue to require as a qualification for employment any person having access to federal tax information received from the IRS be fingerprinted and submit to a state national criminal history background check.
Kathleen Smith, Director, Department of Revenue summarized the cost for finger printing and a criminal history background check for 617 employees would be $28,999. This requirement will protect the receipt of federal tax information received from the IRS.
