Chairperson Barker opened the hearing on SB83.
Chairperson Barker recognized Doug Jorgensen, State Fire Marshal, as a proponent of SB83 (Attachment 3).
Chairperson Barker asked the revisor to give an overview of the bill. Chris Waggoner, Revisor, provided the overview (Attachment 4).
Chairperson Barker closed the hearing on SB83.
Representative Carmichael moved to waive the 24-hour rule and to work SB83, seconded by Representative Ruiz.
Chairperson Barker called for discussion. There was none.
Representative Carmichael closed on the motion. An oral vote was taken, and the motion to waive the rule and work SB83 was approved.
Representative Carmichael moved to recommend SB83 favorably for passage, seconded by Representative Whitmer.
Representative Carmichael moved to amend SB83 by striking the words "statute book" on page 2, line eight of the bill and substituting the words "Kansas register," seconded by Representative Highland.
There was no discussion. The Chair considers this a favorable amendment.
An oral vote was taken, and the amendment to SB83 by striking the words "statute book" on page 2, line eight and substituting the words "Kansas register" was approved.
Representative Carmichael moved to recommend SB83, as amended, favorably for passage, seconded by Representative Highland.
