Minutes for HB2107 - Committee on Public Health and Welfare
Short Title
Inclusion of biological products in the pharmacy act of the state of Kansas.
Minutes Content for Wed, Mar 22, 2017
Chairperson Schmidt called the meeting to order and reopened the hearing on HB2107.
Alexandra Blasi testified as a opponent to the bill, in part, due to the requirement that pharmacists report the substitution to the prescriber as Kansas Department of Health and Environment already has a model for substituting prescription drugs that has worked well for many years. (Attachment 1)
Peter Stern presented his testimony in opposition to HB2107 as it would require pharmacies dispensing the biological products in question to communicate/report the dispensing of such products in a manner that is accessible to prescribers, He suggested a modest flat fee for completion of this extra activity. (Attachment 2)
As there were no questions from the Committee, Chairperson Schmidt closed the hearing on HB2107.
