Chairperson Schmidt opened the hearing on HB2304.
Scott Abbott, Staff Revisor, gave an overview of the bill. Scott answered committee questions.
Testifying in support of the bill was Representative Tom Burroughs. He said the passage of HB2304 would create minimum requirements for safe sleeping practices of child care providers. Representative Burroughs answered questions from the committee. (Attachment 3)
The next proponent testimony was presented by Ian Schaffer. (Attachment 4) He proposed a two word amendment (adding "non-mesh" before the word bumpers on page 2, line 29) to the bill that would continue the prohibition currently in HB2304 against traditional baby crib bumpers while excluding mesh-liners from that prohibition. He provided to the Committee a Crib Bumper Legislation Recap to support his testimony. (Attachment 5)
