Jason Thompson briefed the Committee saying that the bill exepts juror lists from the Kansas Open Records Act.
Seeing no questions, Chairman Wilborn moved on to the next order of business.
Proponent:
The Honorable Chief Judge Daniel Creitz testified in support (Attachment 1) of the bill saying that the removal of the juror addresses will relieve jurors, giving them more confidence to serve.
During a brief question and answer period the issue of privacy was raised. The ability to use numbers instead of names was discussed. The Honorable Chief Judge Creitz expressed that although using a numbering system may seem more private, names could still be found on the internet.
Seeing no further conferees, questions, or discussion, Chairman Wilborn closed the hearing.
