Minutes for HB2260 - Committee on Judiciary
Short Title
Allowing probation revocation without graduated sanctions for persons on probation due to downward departure.
Minutes Content for Tue, Mar 21, 2017
Jason Thompson gave a brief on the bill saying it would allow for revocation of probation, assignment to a community correctional service program, suspension of sentence, or non-prison sanction of an offender without graduated sanctions for persons on one of the aforementioned programs.
Proponent:
Kim Parker shared her support (Attachment 10) for the bill saying that the measure is important to allow the courts not only to give appropriate sanctions in the event a defendant violates the terms of the court ordered probation, but it also eliminates the duplication and cost of services by court service officers and community corrections.
The Committee discussed the bed impact statement. Seeing no further conferees, questions, or discussion, Chairman Wilborn closed the hearing.
