Chairperson Baumgardner called the meeting to order.
The Committee was presented a handout from the Kansas Board of Regents, which is a follow-up from last Monday's meeting on HB2212 and HB2213. It addresses the questions Committee members had from that meeting.
Chairperson Baumgardner stated they would bring up HB2212 for possible action. Tamera Lawrence gave a brief explanation of the bill. Chairperson Baumgardner asked if there were any further questions, and none were presented.
Ms. Lawrence handed out a balloon amendment for HB2212. The amendment changes the sunset date from 2022 to 2019. The Committee discussed the change of dates, expenses for this Committee, and possible changes KBOR intends to explore to increase the efficiency of the board. (Attachment 1)
Senator Doll moved to accept the amendment, and Senator Alley seconded the motion. All in favor raised their hands, and the amendment passed unanimously.
