Chairperson Barker opened the hearing on HR6016. Jason Long, Revisor, provided an overview of the bill.
Chairperson Barker recognized Representative Randy Powell as a proponent on HR6016 (Attachment 1).
Major Michael Pfannenstiel and Sergeant Chris Evans provided proponent testimony on behalf of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office (Attachment 2).
Chairperson Barker recognized Phil Cosby, who testified as a proponent on behalf of American Family Action (Attachment 3) (Attachment 3A).
Dr. Abraham Rafie testified in place of Dr. Todd Bowman as a proponent on HR6016 (Attachment 4) (Attachment 4A).
Chairperson Barker recognized Matthew Wells as a proponent (Attachment 5).
Chairperson Barker recognized Steve Brunk, who testified on behalf of Family Policy Alliance as a proponent (Attachment 6).
Chairperson Barker then allowed questioning by the Committee for all of the conferees. Representative Ruiz had a question for Mr. Wells and Representative Clayton directed some comments to Mr. Wells. There were no other questions by the Committee.
Chairperson Barker directed the Committee's attention to the written proponent testimony of Michael Schuttloffel of the Kansas Catholic Conference (Attachment 7) and Pat Colloton, Office of the Attorney General (Attachment 8).
Chairperson Barker stated that there were no opponents or neutrals signed up to testify. He asked if there were any. Seeing none, he closed the hearing on HR6016.
