Scott Wells, Assistant Revisor noted HB2261 has been amended on Page 37 which adds a new paragraph amending the sales tax exemption. The sales tax exemption would apply to all personal property purchased by or on behalf of the veteran service organizations.
Kathleen Smith, Director, Department of Revenue stated on HB2261 the estimated amount would be $200,000 loss in state sales tax annually based upon this exemption. This would be $168,000 State General Fund and $32,000 in State Highway Fund. There is also a potential loss for local sales tax and the estimated amount is $66,000.
