Tamera Lawrence, Office of Revisor of Statutes, gave a brief update on HB2213. No questions were presented.
Chairperson Baumgardner stated that the Committee would be hearing proponent testimony from Jean Redeker, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Kansas Board of Regents. Ms. Redeker gave a brief presentation. (Attachment 6)
Chairperson Baumgardner asked what the worst case scenario would be if the date was not changed. Senator Bollier asked if any of the monies had been swept. Ms. Redeker discussed that $1 million was swept in 2012. Senator Bollier asked if they were able to afford staff funds during that time and Ms. Redeker stated that they were. Senator Alley asked for clarification on what type of institutions they include.
Chairperson Baumgardner stated that due to a variety of Committee member questions, she would like follow-up information that offered a snap shot of the last five years, and more information about the monies that were swept. Chairperson Baumgardner stated that the Committee would look at this bill in the near future.
Follow up material was emailed to the Committee on March 16th. The material provided includes answers to questions presented on HB2212 and HB2213. (Attachment 7)
