Short Title
Adding an armed services occupation medal decal for distinctive military license plates.

Chairperson Petersen opened the hearing on this bill. Mr. Wells gave an overview, noting this bill would expand eligibility of license plate decals to be placed on military license plates for persons receiving an Army of Occupation Medal or Navy Occupation Service Medal upon providing proof of receipt of such medals to the Director of Vehicles.
Alan Thagard, U.S. Army veteran, Sabetha, Kansas, provided proponent testimony (Attachment 3). He noted he has requested that an armed services occupation medal decal for a veteran's distinctive license plate be made available to persons who have served in occupied enemy territory. He noted veterans would be proud to display the plates. Mr. Thagard provided information on occupied territory and displayed a photo of the medal explaining the meaning of each color of the medal.
Written proponent testimony was provided by Representative Randy Garber (Attachment 4).
