Jason Thompson gave a brief on the bill saying as it was amended by the House Committee of the Whole, this bill allows agents and contractors of public officials to access certain Department of Labor records and reports.
Proponent:
Allie Devine expressed her support (Attachment 15) of the bill explaining the importance of this bill which allows for specific individuals to access employment records so wages can be garnished. She explained that the bill was amended by the House so that Kansas law aligns with federal law.
During the brief question and answer period, concerns about the definition of 'public officials' and 'employees' were discussed, and the responsible person was identified.
Seeing no further conferees, questions, or discussion, Chairman Wilborn closed the hearing.
Chairman Wilborn then reminded the Committee of the time change for the meeting on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 10:30 AM to 9:30 AM and then he adjourned the meeting at 11:25 AM.
