Chairperson Schmidt opened the hearing on HB2055.
Scott Abbott, Staff Revisor, reviewed the bill and answered questions from the Committee.
Alexandra Blasi presented testimony in support of HB2055 as it includes vital updates to the Pharmacy Practice Act to comply with Federal law. It also gives greater authority for the Board of Pharmacy to properly and adequately regulate the compounding of drugs; would require pharmacy technician applicants to possess a high school diploma or GED, as well as be required to pass a certification exam within a certain period of time after becoming registered. It also contains updates to standardizing language across licensing agencies. (Attachment 1)
Jody Reel testified in support of HB2055 stating that it had been crafted to respond to changes made in the Federal Pharmacy Laws and also allows the Board of Pharmacy the authority to oversee and regulate advancements in the pharmacy profession. (Attachment 2)
