Chairperson Tyson opened a hearing on SCR1604.
Adam Siebers presented to the Committee an explanation of SCR1604. He stood for questions.
Senator Tom Holland presented testimony to the Committee in support of SCR1604 by stating that "Kansas has the highest state sales tax on food in the Midwest and is second overall in the entire United States" (Attachment 1). He stood for questions.
Matt Conklin presented testimony to the Committee in support of SCR1604 by saying "phasing down the food sales tax rate . . . will benefit millions of Kansans as well as Kansas businesses". (Attachment 2) He stood for questions.
Ashley Jones-Wisner presented testimony to the Committee in support of SCR1604 by saying "numerous surveys and research . . . has shown our high sales tax rate harms the Kansas economy, businesses and families". (Attachment 3) She stood for questions.
