Chairperson Schmidt opened the hearing on SB126.
Scott Abbott, Staff Revisor, gave an overview of the bill.
Senator Mary Jo Taylor testified in support of SB126. Her testimony stated that changes offered with this bill will improve upon the statute by clarifying language of those convicted as felons, and defining a sex offender for purposes pertinent to child care facilities. (Attachment1)
Lorrena Steelman, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, testified in support of SB126, Her testimony included a request to add a conviction of arson as a restriction to persons maintaining, residing, working or volunteering in a child care facility. Ms. Steelman responded to questions from Committee members. (Attachment 2)
