Chairman Waymaster opened the hearing on the bill.
David Weise, Office of the Revisor of Statutes reviewed the bill brief (Attachment 1). The bill reflects amendments of the STAR bond financing that would extend the sunset provisions, provide costs incurred for renovation and expansion of a historic theater, provides the governing body of the municipality the discretion to pass an ordnance or resolution regarding the establishment of a STAR bond project; eliminates a provision for county commissioners or school board, eliminates the secretary of commerce approval of a city or county option to use guest tax revenues for STAR bond payments, and eliminates STAR bond language involving the auto race track facility
David Weise responded to questions from committee members. Additional information was requested by committee members that included the following: fiscal impact, cost to the state, projects pending, and the revenue impact to the state and schools.
