Short Title
Hillside cemetery district; deannexation of territory located within the city of Valley Center.

Chairman Williams opened the hearing on the bill.
Mike Heim presented an overview on the bill.
Representative Huebert presented testimony in support of the bill stating there is an issue with overlapping cemetery tax district boundaries. Maps were included in the attachments representing tax district boundaries and verifying correct tax unit layers. Concerns were expressed over the annexation of the city of Valley Center into Hillside Cemetery. (Attachment 1) (Attachment 2)
Cindy Green presented testimony in support of the bill stating this would allow Hillside Cemetery to deannex land within the City of Valley Center to remove it from the taxing district.(Attachment 3)
Discussion included notification and conversation with the representative from the adjacent district to insure no issues for deannexation. Funding is currently through property tax mills.
Chairman Williams closed the hearing on the bill.
Representative Carpenter moved, Representative Thimesch seconded, HB2278 be recommended favorably for passage. Motion carried.
Representative Alcala is a recorded, abstain vote.
There being no further information to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 1:50 PM.
